A mistake

When I was in 6th standard...

Unknowingly,I made a blunder...

With classmates,during lunch hour of the school,
We went to pluck raw green mangoes nearby...

Some's eyes at owner's home's gate & others threw pebbles at mangoes of branches in sky...

We used to go for mangoes  in hot sun...

With mates eating mangoes was a fun...

After returning to school ,
When teachers asked we told them lie...

But one day we were caught,
with a rope the owner angrily started to tie...

He called our principal who asked "stealing mangoes , why?"

Our headmaster chid us like a father do at home,
We saw love & care behind his decry

Owner told principal bad things,
So he had wrath in his eye...

The headmaster took us back ,
At our work we were shy...

The owner told teacher "you didn't teach your children very well"...

He added "you should close school & vegetables you should sell"...

Since then we didn't do such work from which teachers' eyes down

By teachers seeds of love, literacy & obeisance for others are sown
