‘We won’t allow you to work. So many children of our school are
working here. How can you keep them here during school hours?’ Kadam, a 12 year old girl challenged the local contractor. All
eyes were raised in a surprise to the group of children led by this girl. Kadam
studying in the Primary School Ganeshpur Musaheri, in Bariarpur block (Munger)
is also Pradhan Mantri (Prime Minister) of the School’s Bal Sansad.
She very efficiently discharges
her responsibility of bringing all the children to school. On the said day, she
alongwith her Sansad members went to her ‘tola’ to call the children. The Bal
Sansad members, led by their Prime Minister, rushed to the site and warned the
contractor. They argued with the contractor, “No child will work here now.” He
had to assure them. Kadam took away all the working children from there. Kadam,
the only daughter of Jitender Manjhi and Shanti Devi, has shown to all how
education gives wings to our courage and our thought. Kadam intends to be a
doctor in future.
